The privately owned Kowa Group was founded in 1894, selling cotton fabric in Japan. From these humble beginnings, Kowa has grown into a global enterprise with a diverse business portfolio, focusing mainly in the fields of textiles, machinery, construction materials, pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, medical devices, ophthalmology, and products aimed at energy conservation and the environment.

The pharmaceutical division research, develop and manufacture prescription and OTC drugs, life support products, dietary supplements, and medical devices using cutting edge technologies. We offer a wide variety of prescription medicines including oral agents for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases which is seen as a specialty segment, as well as products for the digestive system, central nervous system, ophthalmic solutions and dermatological creams.

Taking advantage of our long heritage of excellence and experience with optics and ophthalmological instruments, we also manufacture intraocular lenses for cataract surgery to replace the opaque crystalline lens of the eye.
